Milla communing with the animals

09/07/07 - Espaņola

Albatross - what flavour is it?
Hanging out with the locals on the far side of the island from the albatrosses
Yawn - more sea lion photos

10/07/07 - San Cristobal & Lobos

... but who can resist them?
Milla, wandering in the direction of 'our' boat
A Blue-footed Booby and chick, secure near their ground-based nest
Sea lions mucking about with the dinghy at the back of the boat

11/07/07 - Santa Fe & Plaza Sur

Giant cactuses - another of the endemic Galapagos species
Land iguanas are the reason the cactuses have trunks
And there's the two of them together
The cactus forest (Galapagos is pretty barren - this is a forest) and our boat in the background
Milla killing time, waiting for the boat
No excuse for this photo - I just like Land Iguanas
A not-very-good photo of red-billed tropicbirds: dunno why the colour's so blocky
Our last night/evening travel, accompanied as always by frigatebirds - that's Milla on the deck
We're also accompanied by a number of pelicans, this one on one of the dinghies

12/07/07 - En Route

Turtle-tracks, heading inland to lay eggs
And our first flamingoes (flamingos?) of the trip
Sea lions are waiting for us when we finally leave the cruise boat
We take a ferry to small Puerta Villamil, on desolate Isabela

13/07/07 - Isabela

There's a tortoise breeding centre here too, though they don't seem to need as much assistance as the ones on Santa Cruz
There are also more flamingoes here, in a lake inside the village

14/07/07 - Isabela

Strange purple lake, a few kilometres west of town
The 'Wall of Tears' is supposedly a tourist attraction (built by convicts), but features no animals
There are plenty of marine iguanas just along the shore, though
Those are marine iguana tracks leading to/from the water, on this desolately dramatic stretch of shore.

15/07/07 - En Route

On the way back, we pass our (old) boat in Puerta Ayora harbour.
And then our grand adventure is over, and it's back to mainland Ecuador
