Week Twenty-Two

26/03/07 to 01/04/07

And at last, Angkor

  • 26/03/07 - Angkor
  • 27/03/07 - Angkor
  • 28/03/07 - Angkor
  • 29/03/07 - En Route
  • 30/03/07 - Khorat
  • 31/03/07 - Phimai
  • 01/04/07 - Khorat
Lining the main entrance to the city of Angkor Thom ... (that's a snake they're holding)

26/03/07 - Angkor

At the Bayon, one of Angkor's temples, which is - well, pretty excellent actually
Milla inspects some elephants
We eventually drop in on Angkor Wat itself

27/03/07 - Angkor

Some of today's temples are falling apart a bit
or else being eaten by trees
Original Khmer sculpture - apparently this is a lion, not a poodle
Different temples, different shapes: this used to be on an island
There aren't much in the way of facilities for the disabled: or even the well-abled

28/03/07 - Angkor

A particularly small temple (Banteay Srei), but mobbed with visitors
It rains, and we take shelter in a building with no roof
In less-visited areas, there are real Indiana Jones style lost temples
One last look at the Bayon before we leave
And this, incidentally, was our transport

29/03/07 - En Route

30/03/07 - Khorat

31/03/07 - Phimai

Having returned to Thailand, our first target is a Khmer temple
There's also some pretty wildlife living nearby

01/04/07 - Khorat

Beautiful downtown Khorat, where we've spent the last couple of days, far from the tourist trail
